Using the Reading Room

The library's collections continue to be accessible for research during the renovation. An interim reading room in Widener Library is open during the following hours:

Monday, Friday 9AM – 5PM
Tuesday – Thursday 9AM – 7PM
Saturday – Sunday CLOSED

We will endeavor to provide the same reference assistance we always have, but certain collections materials may be unavailable for periods of time. If we know ahead of time that a collection or call number range is briefly closed, it will be listed on the Closed Collections Schedule. However, some of our collections may be unexpectedly rendered inaccessible due to the unpredictable nature of construction. In these rare cases we may not be able to give advance notice of their unavailability.

Due to limited accessibility to our stacks space we have revised our circulation policies in the following ways:

  • Requests for material must be placed at least two business days in advance of the scheduled date by 2PM.
  • No more than six boxes or volumes per day may be requested.
  • Due to the renovation, we regret that we may be unable to provide access to some oversize collection material.

Patrons can check if their request is available for use by logging into their HOLLIS Special Request Account

Due to ongoing renovations and changes in workflows, our usual 6 week timeline for addressing new reproductions orders has been delayed to a minimum of 8 weeks, with a potential for longer timelines. This does not include the time it takes to complete the order at Imaging Services.  We apologize for any service delays in advance.
